Kieran Trippier faced a challenging night at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea secured a spot in the Carabao Cup semi-finals through a penalty shootout.

Despite Callum Wilson’s 16th-minute goal initially propelling Newcastle towards the last four, a late error by Trippier allowed Mykhailo Mudryk to equalize, leading the game to penalties.

Trippier’s missed penalty, along with Djordje Petrovic’s save from Matt Ritchie’s spot-kick, transformed Chelsea’s fortunes from potential defeat to the joy of advancing to the semi-finals.
