During a recent interview with Hip TV, Johnny Drille, the renowned Nigerian singer also known as John Ighodaro, shared a profound revelation regarding the inspiration behind his popular track titled ‘How Are You My Friend.’

The talented artist disclosed that the passing of Don Jazzy’s mother served as a significant influence for the song’s creation.

Johnny Drille further divulged that he collaborated with Don Jazzy in writing the heartfelt lyrics for ‘How Are You My Friend,’ acknowledging the Mavin boss as the mastermind behind the concept of the track.

He said:

The inspiration behind “How Are You My Friend” stemmed from Don Jazzy, who had recently lost his mother a few weeks prior.

It seems that the song served as his personal way of addressing this loss, as many individuals who hadn’t been in contact with him for years began reaching out.

This realization struck him profoundly, making him realize the significant number of friends he had lost touch with.

Furthermore, these are challenging times we find ourselves in, with a turbulent economy and numerous individuals facing hardships.

Many people are going through personal struggles that they may not feel comfortable sharing openly.

Perhaps this is why the song has resonated with so many, as it taps into these shared experiences.
