If I had spent money like Chelsea, people might have wanted to get rid of me – Pep Guardiola.

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, mentioned that critics would have been highly critical if his team had spent the same amount of money on new players as Chelsea has done in the past year.

Romeo Lavia’s transfer from Southampton for £58 million brings the Blues’ expenses to nearly £1 billion under Todd Boehly’s leadership.

Guardiola has argued that their Premier League competitors are receiving insufficient media coverage compared to what they might have received.

“I couldn’t be here if our spending matched Chelsea’s outlay in the past two transfer periods.

The scrutiny would undoubtedly be overwhelming,” Guardiola commented.
