Martin Odegaard signs new long-term contract at Arsenal

Arsenal’s captain, Martin Odegaard, has inked a fresh five-year contract with the club, aligning himself with a growing list of players securing their futures with the Gunners.

The 24-year-old midfielder joins the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and William Saliba in committing to long-term stays at the club.

In the previous season, the former Real Madrid player showcased his prowess by netting 15 goals in the Premier League while contributing seven assists, ultimately helping Arsenal secure a second-place finish behind Manchester City. This season, he has already notched up three goals across all competitions.

Odegaard expressed his enthusiasm for the contract extension, emphasizing that the decision was straightforward. The Norwegian international initially joined Arsenal on loan from Real Madrid in January 2021 and quickly felt a strong connection with the club, describing it as his home.

Reflecting on the spate of contract renewals among players, Odegaard credited the positive direction set by manager Mikel Arteta as a key motivating factor. He highlighted the club’s progress, alignment with the fans, and the unity among the players, emphasizing that it’s a compelling proposition for everyone involved, particularly given the presence of numerous ambitious young talents within the squad.
