Mayorkun, the Nigerian singer also known as Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, recently shared that he drew inspiration from the renowned singer and rapper, Olamide.

Recently on Snapchat, the ‘Cheche’ crooner shared a video of himself freestyling, crediting Olamide for inspiring his music writing style.

Acknowledging the YBNL boss’s influence on his penmanship, the former DMW signee emphasized that good songwriting doesn’t necessarily have to be in English.

In the caption, he wrote, “Na Baddo [Olamide] make me know say pen game no be by English o! IYKVK.”

Mayorkun gained prominence in 2016 with his cover of Davido’s ‘The Money’ single, discovered by the singer on X (formerly Twitter).

After signing with Davido’s record label, DMW, he released his debut single, ‘Eleko,’ propelling him to stardom.

Two years later, he clinched the coveted Next Rated category at The Headies, solidifying his position.

In 2021, Mayorkun parted ways with DMW.
