Tension Grips Enugu State Community

Unknown gunmen created a state of intense tension and fear among the residents of Enugu State on Wednesday.

This unrest was a result of the enforcement of a one-week sit-at-home order issued by the Simon Ekpa led faction of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Reports indicate that the gunmen traversed various areas of the state, including the New Market axis, Artisan, Emene, New Haven, Abakpa, Agbani Road, and NOWAS, firing their weapons indiscriminately.

These individuals, concealing their identities with masks, were seen traveling in a Siena vehicle and tricycles.

The situation caused considerable distress among parents whose children were already at school.

Some rushed to retrieve their kids, while others anxiously contacted the school management to ensure the safety of their children.

Currently, a joint operation involving the Army and the Police is underway to apprehend the gunmen. Additionally, a helicopter was observed patrolling significant parts of the state.

In response to the escalating tensions, all banks, businesses, and schools that had initially commenced their daily operations promptly closed down.
