Why I Started YBNL Records – Olamide

Famed Nigerian rapper Olamide disclosed that he established YBNL Records with the intention of reinvesting in the profitable business rather than engaging in unnecessary expenditures

During an interview with Nandi Madida on Apple Music’s Africa Now Radio, the rapper disclosed that they have enlisted artists such as Lil Kesh, Fireboy DML, Adekunle Gold, Viktoh, Davolee, and many more under their label.

He said-

“The world had embraced my creations, and I deeply appreciated that. However, I recognized the importance of reinvesting in the very source of their admiration.

While my journey began fueled solely by passion, I realized it was now essential to elevate my commitment, reinvest substantially, and transform it into a legitimate enterprise.

This led me to establish my own record label and commence the signing of talented artists.

I was determined not to squander my earnings on mere extravagance, but to channel them back into nurturing the business.

This marked the genesis of the entire endeavor.”

The artist known for “Lagos Boys” also elaborated on his upcoming ‘Unruly’ tour.

“I performed last year at Mr. Money’s (Asake) concert in London, UK. This December, I’ll have my own concert in Nigeria.
Next summer, I’ll embark on a tour across the USA and Europe.
My fans have been urging me to ‘come outside,’ and now I’m prepared.
I’ve been diligently working to align with the current new wave, which is quite intense.
Adapting to the times hasn’t been simple, but I’ve invested considerable time to make it happen.”
